A Navy veteran and mother of a seven year-old daughter, Vonita Murray seeks to help others and build community through her farm enterprise.
Vonita now owns and operates Mariposa Valley Farm in Woodland, CA, where she grows organic vegetables. She sells her produce through a small CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). She also has acquired two restaurant contracts and also sells to grocery stores.
In 2011, Vonita received a Good Food Fellowship grant from the Bon Appetit Management Company, through the Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund. She has used her grant to purchase irrigation supplies, a greenhouse and attend the California Farm Academy. With determination, hard work, and resources, Vonita is well-equipped to build a career in agriculture.
