Farm animals are now considered "exotic" animals, and unless you own a horse, cat, or dog, it's very difficult to find a vet to treat our livestock, much less make a call to the farm. I'm excited to hear about the program you are in and wish we had something like that here. We live in Carnation, WA, near Seattle, in the last agricultural valley in King Co. After you graduate, if you ever want to venture to the States, I'll provide room and board and lots of clients! Good luck with your school and hope you find some volunteer opportunities there. I currently work as freelance graphic designer and would like to start making a move into the rural vet scene. I would like to be able to commit to one full day a week volunteering, or shadowing a rural vet so I am able to gain some industry experience with the goal of obtaining some employment sometime down the track. I have worked in the dairy industry for the past four years relief milking for people when they go away. I look forward to hearing from you if you are able to assist or provide some direction. I am based in South Auckland but am able to travel throughout the Waikato area.
