Educational Retreat 2009 – Ensenada

In August, 2009, the Farmer-Veteran Coalition sponsored an educational on-site seminar at a large-scale organic vegetable farming operation (Del Cabo Organics) in Baja, Mexico. With the production manager as their guide, they learned about sheltered farming (in large “greenhouses” covered in fine mesh rather than glass or plastic), about how to deal with pests and diseases in organic crops, sanitary procedures, production, packing and adapting farming practices to climate and season.
