I\’d like to get some information regarding acquiring a loan for a farm. We are purchasing a home about 5 minutes from Camp Lejeune… Only problem is the land is for sale but separate from the home (family inheritance, home has one acre surrounding it). We would like to purchase at a minimum 5 acres of what I deem pretty great agricultural land (I grew up on a 400 acre farm). We would like to take in horses/pigs/goats/chickens etc from the local humane society whom have been abandoned and wondering if there are any opportunities to borrow money in order to do so. If anyone has any help, please let me know. Also, he is a SSgt Active duty Marine Corps (don\’t know if that matters, but if there is any additional help or options for active duty I would love to hear it.)

I can\’t believe I stumbled upon this. Hello My name I Harold Schehr. I too like SFC Cardona was an MP (SGT E-5) in the US Army (Iraq April 2003- April 2004). I have spent the last 7 years searching for something meaningful in my life. Something that focuses on positivity for the world, not just looking to fill my pockets. I think that is a common trait in us vets when we get home. Along my journey I began to try and take better care of my body, so I took up an organic lifestyle. I\’m convinced that if I wouldn\’t of done this I wouldn\’t have made it this far. As of late I have come to the realization that this is my passion and I want to give back to the world what it has given to me, a second chance at life. How do I pursue this dream? I’m an OIF vet who served with 4-64 AR Bn, 3ID in OIF III & V. I got medically discharged Nov. 2010 and moved back to Oklahoma where I leased 6 acres of land, I initially planned to raise pigs but woke up one day with something else in mind, unsure why or where the idea came from but instead of buying pigs I bought a small herd of Tibetan Yaks! Their amazing animals, just watching them and interacting with them is awesome for my PTSD and I think it would help heal others like myself!

Ben, Let me know where you are, I am from Northern California, with experience in fruit trees, vegetable produce, poultry, and beef. I may have some equipment that can help you out. I will be discharged honorably in August of next year, and plan on helping my in-laws on their ranch.. Im sure we could talk and work a few things out.
